Capac Bible Church

Give me that Old Time Religion!

We begin each service with a Scripture reading from the King...

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

“Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.” 1 Corinthians 15:51-53

These passages speak of the great climax of the ages, the desire of every believer, the return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in power and great glory.

See also Matthew 24:1-25, Luke 17:26-30, John 14:1-3

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II passed from this life on September 8, 2022. She was the longest reigning monarch in British history, faithfully serving the British people for seventy years, seven months and two days. I believe this is a testament, not only to her selfless dedication to the British people, but also to the longsuffering and blessing of God.

We read in the Bible that our Lord Jesus Christ will be given the Throne of His father David upon His return in power and great glory.

Luke 1:32-33, Psalm 89

The Throne of England can be traced through the millennia back to Scotland, Ireland, and all the way back through the Kings of ancient Israel and Judah, to the Throne of David, as may be seen in a very ancient manuscript in Herald’s College, London.

A genealogical chart compiled by A. B. Grimaldi was published during the reign of Queen Victoria, which showed her descent from King David, and it was widely known at the time that Her Majesty had wished to lay her crown at Christ’s feet, as the rightful Heir.

In his work, The Journey and It’s End, A. J. Pollock records . . .

One of the chaplains of her late Majesty, Queen Victoria, had been preaching on the Second Coming of the Lord, and afterward, in conversation with the preacher, the Queen exclaimed: “Oh! how I wish that the Lord would come in my lifetime!”

“Why,” asked the chaplain, “does your Majesty feel this very earnest desire?”

The Queen replied with quivering lips, and her whole countenance lighted up by deep emotion — “I should so love to lay my crown at His feet.”

Queen Elizabeth, when she was asked during an interview about twenty years ago who should take the Throne after her, voiced a similar sentiment to that of Victoria when she said something to this effect . . .

“It should be my earnest desire to return my crown, my Throne, to the only rightful King — King Jesus.”

On the day that Queen Elizabeth II passed, remarkable rainbows appeared over Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle. The rainbow is a symbol of God’s Divine Authority (Revelation 4:3, 10:1) and is also used as the seal of God’s covenant with Noah (Genesis 9:12-17).

So what could this mean?

Could it be that the rainbows that were seen this week over the houses of Queen Elizabeth were there to remind us of the promise that God gave to David?

Psalms 89:20-37

Charles is King, but has not yet been crowned. That will be sometime next year. Elizabeth became Queen 6 February 1952 but was not crowned until 2 June 1953. There will be one for sure, and possibly two, Feasts of Trumpets between now and then. Anything could happen.

Christ's appearing could be very near. Are you ready for that Day?

Revelation 22:1-21
