In a place where there are only to means of having fun fishing for whales and voting I'm surprised that this special election had such a low turn out. Not saying it's not possible but just questionable.
This was a special election for US Congress Member Don Young, who passed away March 18, 2022 during a flight at the age of 88.
Young, held the seat since 1972. In his recent re-election he had 54.36% of the votes.
Normal turn out for this seat in Alaska is 250k + total voters. This recent election had a turnout of around 170k which appear to be historically low for this modern era.
Alaska, has adopted a Ranked Choice Voting system.
1 - Whatever an RCVS is why adopted now?
2 - Were Alaskan voters educated on this new system before it was rolled out?
3 - Will the election be investigated?
4 - Are real Alaskans happy with the selection?
