We had a soggy drive from Nebraska to Mitchell, South Dakota, but enjoyed great weather in the days following our arrival. We stayed at the Lake Mitchell Campground operated by the city but did all of our filming while we were exploring attractions like the Corn Palace, Prehistoric Indian Village, and Graceland cemetery. It ended up being advantageous for us to stay an extra few days, because we needed to get some measurements in order to prepare for any potential height restrictions and John also managed to damage our awning bracket.
We enjoyed Mitchell greatly, and recommend visiting, especially if you are already planning a trip to South Dakota. You can even do a visit to Mitchell as a one-day trip on the way to more well-known destinations.
