Give me that Old Time Religion!
We begin each service with a Scripture reading from the King James Bible. We sing the old hymns you grew up with. We spend time in prayer each service. We have piano and pipe organ and we use them. We have special music each service with an occasional bluegrass gospel selection. We have responsive readings from the Bible. We have good old fashioned preaching. We are a friendly church and we have good fellowship with one another following each worship service.
“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24-25
We stand on the Word of Almighty God. The Holy Bible is our guide book to live by. We use the Authorized King James Bible. No modern translations or modern religion around here. We do things the old way because it is the best way.
“Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.” Jeremiah 6:16
If ever there was a time when we needed to get back to the old way and find rest for our souls it is today!
If this is what you have been looking for, then you have found it.
This is one of Tabitha’s best, of which there are many. God has blessed her with rich talents and continually pours beautiful music into her heart to share with His people. What a blessing she is to our church and to absolutely everyone who hears her play.
This piece brings to mind the journey of God’s people to the biblical feasts each year (Exodus 23:14-19, Leviticus 23, Deuteronomy 16:16-17, etc). One can almost feel the sense of joy and community as God’s people made their way to Jerusalem, to gather together with the whole family of Israel in obedience to God. There they would see their loved ones. There their faith would be confirmed, and they would be strengthened and encouraged. There they would be recharged spiritually until the next feast. There the young folks may even meet their spouse. Oh what joy and expectation is brought to mind in . . . THE JOURNEY.
