Theology at the intersection of woke and cringe. Public meme-ologian.
IN MOST CASES: "Do not regard him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother."
Dr. Anita Phillips is a huge name you've never heard of. She frequently appears on the YouTube channels of T.D. Jakes and Sarah Jakes Roberts, racking up hundreds of thousands of views. She's preached at Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church. She led a race-segregated Zoom webinar for Rick Warren's Saddleback Church. And her teaching is a toxic cocktail of pop psychology, self-empowerment, postmodern racial grievances, and claims of personal divine revelation.
Of particular interest to me is her spreading the idea of epigenetic trauma. I hear about "trauma passed down via DNA" all the time in the "racial justice" discourse (often as an excuse for sin). However, it's not established scientific fact. It's extremely speculative and unproven in humans. Yet it serves as the basis of her interpretation of a key passage in God's revelation of himself and his promises to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
